if so, how, and what arrow?. need some good (carbon) arrows to hunt/practice with. recurve, 55# @ 28", my draw length is 26.5-27".
i heard you need a really heavy carbon due to its slower (than compound) velocity.

A good carbon arrow for a compound is the same as a good one for recurve. Well not entirely, but close enough. A good one would be something like the Gold Tip line of arrows, they’re built like tanks, and affordable. Their tolerance is not exactly top notch, but good enough.
I don’t understand your question about weight. The weight on the point of the arrow need to be adjusted such that the arrow tunes with the bow. A recurve bow do require a more precise match to the arrow spine than a compound does. Recurve archers also have a wider range of spine for a given poundage and drawlength. This is because of the fingers, your fingers are different than mine, and how quick your fingers are to relax determines the spine you need. Best thing to do is pick a manufacturer, say Gold Tip, go to their website, they will have an arrow chart. Look up your poundage/drawlength combo on there, and use that to start. If your draw length is 27″ leave the arrow at 29″, not only to make room for the broadhead, but just in case you need the arrow to be longer to match the spine. In your case, the weight/drawlength combo will be 52# @ 26″.
Going to carbon from aluminum or other heavier arrows, will also tend to make your bow louder, which can be bad for hunting.
Allot of guys that shoot traditional like to have 10 grains per pound so if you go with a carbon express heritage they are a bit heavier than a normal carbon arrow. When you figure out your bows poundage at your draw lenght the rule of thumb is 2-3 pound less per inch of draw under 28″ so at your draw it would be closer to 50#. Carbon Express’s web site has a chart for arrows that will figure out recuves and long bow since they need a weaker spine than a compound, You should be close to a 150 spine in carbon express and then you can fine tune them with lenght and tip wieght.
